GMIV Isle of Wight crew - Scott Bruce

Name: Scott Bruce
Age: 16
Future: Studying music at Platform One College
Voyage: Malta to Sardinia
Highlights: Using other languages, and seeing dolphins and turtles

“The voyage on Gipsy Moth really opened my eyes to the world of sailing, which I hadn’t realised existed before. At school you don’t really get to learn about things like that. I really would love to make a career out of sailing now, and it has inspired me to follow this ambition. We were interviewed by the local press in Minorca, which was great feeling like a celebrity! I got to see so many different cultures and experiences, and got to speak French, Spanish and Italian; I wouldn’t have got the chance to learn about this sort of stuff if I hadn’t gone on Gipsy Moth. “

“People keep asking me what my favourite bit was, and to be honest I couldn’t pin-point one specific thing, as it was all so amazing and I loved every minute of it.”

Scott was one of three youngsters selected to join the prestigious crew sailing Gipsy Moth for the final trip back into Cowes, because of his overall team working skills and his excellent attitude whilst he was away on his leg of Gipsy Moth.
