Cowes Waterfront
Cowes Waterfront initiative is a regeneration project for the Medina Valley which aims to create jobs, attract investment and bring new facilities to Cowes, East Cowes and Newport Harbour.
The project's economic regeneration approach was guided by four main aims or themes; infrastructure, business, community and environment. Cowes Waterfront regeneration aims to improve infrastructure by bringing under used brown-field sites and premises back into productive use.
New resources for business will create greater dynamism and growth, especially amongst companies involved in composite and marine industries. More job opportunities will be created and in tandem community living will be enhanced by improving townscapes.
All partners recognised that new infrastructure development must be sensitively balanced with the protection and enhancement of the areas outstanding natural environment.
The focus of activity in the Cowes Waterfront area over the past two years has been in East Cowes. SEEDA has spearheaded the East Cowes Project which will bring a host of new facilities to put the heart back into the town; bring new job opportunities, leisure and retail facilities, new workspace and a real vibrancy to the town of East Cowes.
