Isle of Wight Graduate case study
Kirsty Fletcher
Graduate Trainee at Liz Earle Cosmetics
Kirsty Fletcher has a degree in Modern History and Politics from Reading University. After completing her degree Kirsty successfully applied to join the Liz Earle Cosmetics Graduate Training Scheme.
The Company
I work for Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare, a skincare company whose products are designed to be affordable but pampering, simple to use and suitable for all ages and skin types. The products themselves are made of hard working naturally active botanicals which are sourced from across the world. In recent years the company has expanded into international markets including Germany, Australia and the US. The company’s success can be attributed by the way in which it has stayed true to its philosophy of “Quality, Service and Communication Always”.
About the job
There are currently five graduates on the Liz Earle Graduate training scheme. For three years each trainee spends 3 to 6 months in the company’s key departments. Within each department we are given a project to work on and also get involved in the department’s daily activities which enables us to improve our office and communication skills. In the last 19 months I have worked in New Product Development, the Customer Centre, Quality Assurance and Marketing Communications.
Career Progression
The main objective of the graduate scheme is to give me an insight into how a professional company operates and to develop my skills in the work place. The career prospects for me at Liz Earle Cosmetics are exceptional. It has become clear that the company is as serious about my career as I am. I have been encouraged to constantly broaden my skills and recently completed a facial skincare and massage course.
What I love about the Island
The Island gives me the best of both worlds. If I feel I want to get away from it all I can jump in the car and drive to the beaches or take a walk along the downs with my dog. Alternatively if I feel I want to do something more lively I can take advantage of the Island's buzzing social scene. I love the way that the city of Portsmouth and Southampton is just a short trip away and that I can get from my house to London in 2 hours.
