Music and Theatre


The Isle of Wight has long been known as a creative place for musicians and actors so there is a wide variety of talent that have been inspired by the Island:  

Anthony Minghella who is a well known and respected play write is from the Isle of Wight.  The famous bands The Bees and Level 42 grew up on the Isle of Wight.  Andy Gray is an extremely talented song writer who has written theme music for films including Matrix Reloaded, relocated to the Isle of Wight to gain a new base to be creative. Laura Michelle Kelly grew up on the Isle of Wight, is currently starring as Galadriel in the huge new stage production of Lord of the Rings at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. 

For music lovers, there is the Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival, Jazz Festival and the Folk & Blues Festival provides you with plenty of opportunity to enjoy live music.  

Platform One is a local Music College which provides young talented musicians the opportunity to grow and develop their knowledge.
