Expected growth sectors
Creative Industries: We are expecting to see an increase in Creative industries thriving on the Isle of Wight such as Graphic Design, Film production, Music, Artists, Games developers, Fashion and Cosmetics. These creative industries need a stimulating environment, such as the Island, to flourish.
Business Services: Owing to the success of the Island as the fastest growing economy in the South East, the business services sector has developed and we expect to see an increase in demand and subsequent supply, including legal specialists, marketing advisers, event management and IT support.
High End Tourism: The Island is attracting a new generation of tourists with higher spending powers, who demand high quality short breaks. City professionals have discovered that the Isle of Wight is easily accessible for a weekend retreat away from their hectic work schedules, and we are seeing a demand growing for quality boutique hotels, spa breaks, healthy eating and outdoor adventure activities.
Marine: The Isle of Wight is known as a centre for the marine industry, with Cowes being a sought after location for many marine businesses. With the recent move of Palmer Johnson Yachts setting up in Cowes, we are expecting to see even further development of this sector.
Knowledge based: The diverse skills, competitive business costs and world expertise in Aerospace, Radar and Composites has seen the Isle of Wight attract a growing cluster of high value, knowledge based industries. The knock on effect has seen smaller innovative designers and engineers flourish in this ideal environment for start ups, which we expect to see continue.
