IWEP helps promote your jobs
Wednesday, July 5, 2006
The Isle of Wight Economic Partnership (IWEP) is on a mission to assist local businesses in getting the calibre of staff they demand, by helping to remove common preconceptions about the Island, and attracting new skilled employees.
Mike King, Managing Director of the IWEP said “From research carried out last year, we have identified a number of myths about the Island which we are trying dispel, and activities like these, are crucial if we are to attract some of the brightest graduates to our shores!”
We would like to invite companies who are searching for new employees to contact us and let us help you find your employees for the future. The service is free, and we will advertise your Graduate level (or above) vacancies as part of our targeted PR campaign.
The IWEP are working directly with companies on the Island, including Liz Earle cosmetics, Gurit, Vestas Blades, and a range of smaller businesses which are needing to increase their staff numbers. This project involves promoting the Island to skilled people both on and off the Island, who would never before have considered it somewhere to find exciting job opportunities.
Within the initial period of setting up this project, IWEP were overwhelmed with students who were interested in considering the Island as a destination, and with a database of Graduates, we are keen to link Students with Employers.
The first iniative used the Isle of Wight Festival to grab university student’s attention, and to get them thinking about both the great lifestyle and career choices on the Isle of Wight.
Pippa Phillips, Marketing Manager at the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership, believes that carrying out these sort of promotions, especially targeting skilled graduates, are crucial to the long-term prosperity of the Island and the growth of its businesses.
Pippa comments, “We’re really pleased with how this first campaign has gone, the students have ‘experienced’ what the Island can offer in life style terms, alongside the great career opportunities that exist here.”
